Is fashion only a woman’s art?

” Fashion is one of the very few forms of expression in which women have more freedom than men. And I don’t think it’s an accident that it’s typically seen as shallow, trivial and vain. It is the height of irony that women are valued for our looks, encouraged to make ourselves beautiful and ornamental…And are then derided as shallow and vain for doing so. And it’s a subtle but definite form of sexism to take one of the few forms of expression where women have more freedom and treat it as a form of expression that’s inherently superficial and trivial. Like it or not, fashion and style are primarily a women’s art form. And I think it gets treated as trivial because women get treated as trivial. “

Not sure if I agree,  just a thought to ponder… What do you think?

I completely agree with that. Is another way to call women vain, bitchy, naive, gullible, superficial, WAGS etc basically every insult whilst pressurizing them at the same time with perfected imagry, ideals, trends to keep up with and things to conform to. It is a form of expression and creativeness but at the end of the day it’s just one more thing to incorporate into our identity and most fashion is based on cruelty or abuse of some sort in process from creation to buying.

Also, having your own style means having a LOT of strength to take crap from people on the street or people you have deal with day in and day out. Fashion has leaders and followers, most are followers and see to it that others conform. Even counter cultures/fashions have a high level of conformity within them and elitism about being a true whatever or a poser.
